Bog & Burn Success

Most blogger devotees will know that Russell and Julia have been regular participants at the SHR 'Bog and Burn' Hill Races this year - a mini series of mid week hill races.

The ten race (best four to count) series has now been completed, with Russell finishing in 3rd place in the V50 category (50 pts, best 4 from 9) and Julia finishing in 3rd place in the F category (206 pts, best 4 from 7).

Well done to both !

Weekend Round Up...

Well done to Wull and Juilia who took part in the Ochil 2000 hill race this weekend - the flat featureless plateau giving some navigational challenges - Wull recording 19th place in 3:23 and Julia not very far behind in 3:36 (and claiming some notable 'scalps')

At the Teviotdale 10K in Hawick, Steve recorded a 38:30 ish, slightly slower than his best, but a solid time in windy conditions.

Moorfoot BBQ at the Courthouse - the verdict

A big thanks to all those who supported the Moorfoot BBQ at The Courthouse Peebles - the sun shone, the beer flowed and the burgers vanished quickly....feedback seems to have been very positive, with over eighty attendees.

Special thanks to Kirsty, Jane and Alison for organising....same time next year ?

Moorfoot win at Philliphaugh

A bit late with this one (didn't get my Peeblesshire News until Monday this week !), but well done to Wull Hynd for winning the inaugral Philliphaugh Hill Race at Selkirk.
82 runners completed the ~ 4mile course, and feedback appears to generally have been good as to the course/route.

Watch out for this one becoming a regular fixture....

More Moorfoot Hill Running Results

Nine Munroes in an afternoon and some change from 5 hours - well done to Julia for completing the gruelling Glenshee 9 in 4:48.

This was the last race in the SHR Championships 2010, with runners requiring four from six, and at least one race in each of the short/medium/long distances.

Congratulations to Russell Anderson for his 6th place in the V50 category, with only four points separating him from 4th and 5th place.

Next years SHR 2011 Championship races have already been announced, with two Borders races usually well attended by Moorfoots in the six races - Eildons and Yetholm...

Moorfoots at Haddington Half Marathon

In preparation for another go at the Snowdonia Marathon in October, Mick Warrington and Alan Strain have been pounding the roads of East Lothian...

Mick wrote:
Mick and Alan travelled over to East Lothian for the Haddington Half Marathon last Saturday and despite a week of cold wet weather the sun decided to show its face and it become a rather hot afternoon. This is one of the prettiest half marathons in the area, it's run on quiet country roads through the gently undulating (hilly?) countryside. There were around 200 finishers on the with Mick recording a pleasing 1hr 35mins and Alan coming in a while after with his multi marathon exploits in Hungary still taking its' toll on his legs. The race was well organised with plenty of marshals and water stations (necessary in the heat). For those of you who have not run this course put a note in your diaries for next year - it's well worth it.
