Quizzing Eggheids a Solid Third

Beardiebutbaldie, Burnie Caffs and Trucker Collins was the diminished Moorfoot Eggheids team for the PRFC Sports Club quiz with fourth man Quarryman Stevens a late call-off. Five rounds of 15 questions each (averaging a Guinness per round!) saw the Eggheids mid-pack amongst the ten teams at the half-time interval and a strong picture round saw them climb to 3rd equal by the finish, only 4 points shy of the runner-up prize won by Quiz Team Aguillera (Peebles Netball).
Burnie Caffs' impressive knowledge of the German origins of lager, Trucker Collins' personal experience of the Munich Oktoberfest (held in September!) and Beardiebutbaldie's eventual recognition of TV tottie Julia Bradbury, all helped score valuable points.
Points were missed (amongst others) on which other English football team apart from Newcastle play at St James's Park, the band that played the theme tune to Friends, which European country after Russia has the most lakes, and in which European city the next Ryder Cup will be played. Any ideas?

Halloween Handicap Results 2015

Scary looking bunch....
Another 'monster' performance from Colin who ran from the scratch position through the field to win the Tues Night Halloween handicap.

Close racing though, with the first five finishers all within 30 seconds of each other, over the twisting and turning Glentress Green MTB trail.

Battery checks and head torch shake down required by some before the next night run....just saying...

Thanks to Kirsty for starting/finishing/recording the times.

We'll organise another one soon if there is further interest....

Jedburgh 10K Road Race 2015

Another Moorfoot Winter Series counter, there were four Moorfoots out on course at this year's Jedburgh 10K. Conditions were good, for a race which has had a 'windy' reputation over previous years, so only the lumpy nature of the course to use as an excuse this year...

Darin Dougal 36:58 (6th) - usual strong performance and 2nd MV40
Scott McDonald 38:30 (14th) - good run only a month after running a marathon
Kenny Davidson 40:29 (21st)
Alan Elder 42:55 (32nd) - massive PB !

Run Of The Mill - Alva

Still has to be one of my favourite races on the calendar, good runnable tracks along the Ochils with a fantastic decent into Alva to finish. This is the third time I have run it and I finally got to see some of the views looking over the Forth Valley.
Not my best time - but thoroughly enjoyed the race!

PRFC Quiz Night for Sports Clubs

Peebles RFC are holding a quiz night for local sports clubs in the rugby clubrooms on Friday 30 October at 8pm. £10 for a team of four with raffle proceeds going to the winning team’s sports club. We can have more than one team. I have entered the Moorfoot Eggheids - me, Pete Collins and two non-baldies Alan Elder and Willie Stevens. If anyone else wants to enter a second team (or third) then text Shorty at PRFC on 07772 834483.  PS I gather it is a general quiz, not just a sports quiz.
