Peebles Haylodge Moorfoot Senior Handicap and Junior Run, Sunday 9 May

On Sunday 9th of May we are planning to hold a club handicap race for Moorfoot Runners and friends (from within the Scottish Borders) and a 1 mile run for Moorfoot Juniors.

Organiser - Alan Elder iamalanelder@hotmail.com Contact Alan to enter

The events will follow the UK and Scottish governments guidelines on Coronavirus, plus the guidelines of Scottish Athletics, and hence are subject to change at any time https://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/clubs/club-support/coronavirus/

Juniors – off at 9.15 am

The junior 1 mile/1.6km/ approx. The junior course will be within Haylodge Park exact details TBC but something like this.

The route will be well marked, and runners will be in sight of adults/marshals at all times.

Junior Footwear – the run is on this is grass/tarmac – so trail or road shoes - depending on dryness of the surfaces. Possible tarmac sections so spikes are not recommended.

Seniors The first runner will be off on or around 09:30am, depending on the handicapping, which will be based on previous handicap performance, or runners current 10km ‘race pace’ – so if you plan to attend, please let Alan know your current 10Km time and we’ll figure out the handicapping.  No exaggerating, faking injuries, etc, to get a more favourable handicap.

The handicap is open for Over 16’s.

The course adult course is pretty much bang on 4 miles with 628ft of climbing. Shown here  https://www.strava.com/activities/5075618087 - or here https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/8090341/Moorfoot-Haylodge-Handicap-2021

Senior Footwear – Trail/Fell shoes due to off road route.

Toilets – the toilets at the park are currently closed (this may change but don’t rely on that)

Parking – There should be ample parking in Kingsland Car Park if you need to drive https://goo.gl/maps/QzfXYcGVuQsNoFrv8  - You also have the option of cycling or running to the event.

From a Covid 19 perspective, people still need to follow government guidelines re safety, social distancing, etc, hence non-runners please be respectful of this – although this is not a ‘race’, more a run out, should anyone complain, the club may well receive unwelcome publicity. https://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/clubs/club-support/coronavirus/

We look forward to seeing you there! If you don’t feel like racing but are able to help out marshalling then please let me, Alan Elder (iamalanelder@hotmail.com)  know and we can use some help.

Thanks

The Moorfoot Team
