It was a balmy day for 2022 edition the Innerleithen Festive handicap, with the sun coming out and the temperature hitting the highs of 3 degrees! It was snowy underfoot, but it was quite grippy as it softened.
A hardy selection of runners took part after illness saw 8 late drop outs! The freezing weather from the week meant the planned post race refreshments in the golf course cafe were cancelled because of frozen pipes. All the course details are shown here: http://moorfootrunners.blogspot.com/2022/11/moorfoot-festive-handicap-innerleithen.html
Many thanks to the marshalls Hamish, Dorien and Pete Caddick, and time keeper Fi Williams for helping make it happen.
As far as the running goes it was an enjoyable event and everyone had smiles once they got their breath back.
Impressive displays from Thomas Hilton who romped through the field as back marker to finish first - this is a course record, and big congratulations also to Sarah McKechnie who set a new woman's course record too. Fantastic running given the ground conditions.
