The juniors amassed an impressive haul of 5 medals at the East District XC Champs at Cupar today. On a frozen solid rutted course of hay stubble and tractor tracks Selkirk based Zaynah Aziz took silver in the girls' U13 race over 3.2km and combined with Fiona Grant in 9th and Mairi Wallace in 12th to take team silver. Scout Adkin, after a tentative start over 5km, picked her way through the U20 field for bronze. Then the U17 men had a ding-dong race amongst themselves for 3rd, 4th and 5th over 6.4km, leading to a comfortable and thoroughly deserved team GOLD. Jacob Adkin turned a 7-8m advantage over Selkirk-based John McLean into a 7-8m deficit by going temporarily off-course with 1km to go and couldn't quite get back to John who just held on for the individual bronze. Jack Stanners wasn't far behind in 5th. There were also top-ten finishes for Kobe Stevens, 8th in the U15 boys' race, and Sophie Collins, 7th in the U17 women's race.
