Moorfoots at 'Feel the Burns' Hill Race 2013

Coxy on Foulshiels Hill...is he walking ?
A new race...and one which will no doubt become very popular, after a fantastic inaugral running. Great route, great turnout, superb after race catering and hospitality...and winter wonderland conditions.

The route was basically 22Km loop from Philliphaugh (near Selkirk Rugby Club) up to the Three Brethren Cairns, along the ridge following the SUW and then descending down the 'Minchmoor Road' to the Broadmeadows Youth Hostel, before a final short, sharp reascent followed by a further long, fast downhill to the finish at Philliuphaugh again.

A good tun out of Moorfoots and some very strong performances....

Andy Cox's 13th place (1:54) made him Moorfoot 'top dog' for the day, with Mike McG's 1:56 (19th) showing that he is getting back into form after some protracted injuries.
Colin Williams 1:57 (22nd) was good milage in his legs for his forthcoming London Marathon and it was good to see Wull Hynd (1:58 (26th)) back in action, again after a long absense through injury.
Russell Anderson's 2:00 (34th) was his usual steady performance - it always looks 'effortless' - and 'tail end Charlie' for the day was Kenny (2:06 55th) - 'effort written all over his face most of the way round !!"

Good runs too from local runners Craig Rendle (1:59 27th), Chris Blackwood (2:12) and Scott 'Triathlete' Noble 2:42

A big 'well done' to race organiser Sheila Cochrane and her team for a top notch event...and £1000 raised for the Mountain Rescue.
