Pic - Russell on the 'flat bit' of the Ben Lomond path
Moorfoots in action all over the place this weekend.
On Saturday, Russell and Julia took on the mighty Ben Lomond - Russell recording a time of 1:26 for 47th place and Julia, not far behind recorded 1:36 for a top 100 placing in a field of almost 200 runners; very good results in a strong field in what was a SHR Championship race.
In the Junior Ben Lomond race, Scout came home in first place in the U19 girls, not only winning but also qualifying for a spot at the European Junior Hill Running Championships in Italy later this year - well done !
Also on Saturday, Tom and Kenny ran in the Penicuik 10K, on what is a quite a hilly course (OK, so it's not as 'hilly' as Ben Lomond !!) recording times of 38:08 (15th) and 40:12 (29th) in blustery conditions. This qualified them for as much cake as they could eat at back at race HQ afterwards....
Then on Sunday, Mike, Steve and Wull headed south to the Langholm Muckletoon Doctors 8 mile road race - another 'hilly' one....
Mike was 4th in 46.03, Wull 7th in 48.13 and Steve 9th in 49.16.; good enough to pick up the team prize prize. Mike was also 1st vet and Steve 1st "doctor" (Brain Surgeon !). 7 trophies between the 3 of them and 50 quid prize money...not a bad days racing!!
Also on Sunday, Jane and the Hobbs family were racing at the Hopetoun House Cancer Research event: Jane wrote:
"Beth(P3) had a cracking run, getting round the 5k route in 26mins with her friend Anna McGorum - no adults involved ! Mummy ran with Megan and two of her P2 friends who did brilliantly and managed their run in 34mins ! Mummy and Daddy Hobbs are going to have to up their game!
The day finished with a fabby picnic in the sunshine at Hopetoun House while Daddy cycled home !"
