Scotland Vests for Scout and Jacob

Scout and Jacob Adkin were both in action for Scotland at the hill running Home International at Melmerby near Penrith on Saturday.

Jacob, in his first international race (he was selected in June for the WMRA International but could not attend due to a clash with the PHS battlefields trip) had a stormer to finish 6th and first Scot over the 4.3km uphill only Under-16 course. He had finished 3rd in the Scotland trial but was finishing strongest that day and he duly turned the tables this time, again closing in on those ahead towards the finish at the top of Hartside.

Scout, an experienced international at junior level for Scotland and GB, was earning her first senior vest having only just turned 19. She too had an excellent run over the 10km uphill course, finishing strongly after a sensibly steady start to come home 12th overall and 3rd of the 5-strong Scotland team. A couple of firsts for Scout - she actually overtook someone on a downhill section across the undulating ridge to Hartside and she also won a sprint to the line!!! :-)
