Loch Leven half marathon, Penicuik 10km, Peebles Three Bridges handicap

On the flat stuff Catherine and Simon Hammond were running the Loch Leven Half Marathon
Catherine had a brilliant run to finish in 1:39.09 in a huge personal best to finish at 8th senior woman - massive improvement of 7 minutes in a year!

Simon's been coming back from illness and got round in a solid run to claim 22nd in 1:28:54. Full results: https://www.stuweb.co.uk/race/2g0

Simon's report:
Catherine and I took on the Loch Leven Half on Saturday 11 May along with her brother Stephen. It’s a bit of a local race for them as it goes passed Stephen’s house in Scotlandwell and their parents’ house in Kinnesswood. It was my first ever road race too! Preparation wasn’t great- none of us got as much training in and getting round was the aim. I’d had a cold and almost pulled out and Stephen's back was playing up. But in the end we all made it round in better than expected times!
Scott McDonald and Richard Edge headed down the road to the Penicuik 10k on Saturday.
Scott's run maintained the standards we have come to expect of him clocking another super fast time 34:45 and winning the M50 prize and 7th overall. Richard recorded 42.39 (54th) - good running

At the Peebles 3 Bridges run loads of juniors were racing for their school teams.
In the Open 3 Mile Handicap Race Alan Elder used his jedi mind tricks to get the handicapper to send him off first and held a decent gap all the way round to pick up the top prize (£125 and a trophy!). Colin Williams was set off in the middle of the runners and caught about 5 over the course and wasn't over taken so finished in 5th.  A fun event if you get the chance one year! Lots of photos on the facebook group.
