Barrathon 2019

Dean and Gillian Carr were at the annual Barrathon – Isle of Barra Half Marathon. Here's Dean's report from what sounds like a brilliant event and some quality performances:

Gillian and I made our annual pilgrimage (12 time,) to the Isle of Barra to take part in this year's Barra. We have a nice perfect crossing from Oban to the island on Friday afternoon and the island was looking beautiful in the sun. On race morning the sun was still out so made for a very hot and hard race. The first 6 miles up the West side was very hot as the was no wind. There was plenty water spots which I used all of them. The second hacks is where the hills kick in. It's pretty lumpy and at mile 11 you have to tackle the big climb "Heaval" . Then it's all down hill from there to the finish. Turn out Gillian and I did ok I came in 3rd vet and Gillian 2nd vet ladies.
Great post race buffet at ceilidh in the evening
