Moorfoot at Alloa Half Marathon 2013
I went through to the Hawaiian half marathon at Aloha or should that be Alloa on Sunday with Martin Holt.
The aim was to run as fast as I could as a replacement for a long training run.
Mixed weather on the way there and it stayed dry for most of the race with the odd biting wind in your face moment.
Managed a respectable 1.31.37 which for me is a PB by almost 5 minutes and sub 7 pace.
Came 237th out of 1250+ so in the top 20%. Another new for me.
Very pleased and only 2 long runs before tapering starts for London

Goodbye Beltane Trail Race...hello to The Bridge Inn First Friday Summer Series
Following a few years of running our Moorfoot Runners Beltane 10K Trail Race, putting in a lot of hard work but seeing the numbers gradually fall away, we decided to have a rethink....
More inclusive format, easier to organise, more local participation....and the outcome was.....
....The Bridge Inn First Friday Summer Series.
Details just beginning to get onto our website now....sneak preview here.
More details and communication to club members to follow - there are six races in the series, April through September - so hope to see everyone out participating and volunteering to give up one evening to help out for an hour or so, before an opportunity to partake some of the sponsor's product afterwards !

From the Borders Athletics website:
Entry form will be available here:

PEEBLES 3 BRIDGES 2013 - SUNDAY 5 MAY
To make the handicapping system work best for all runners, the organisers of the Peebles Beltane Sports 3 Bridges Races and Borders Athletics, have decided to have a closing date for entries, 8 days prior to the race for both the Youths and the Adults Open Handicaps. The ONLY exception to this rule is for local runners, who have never competed in a Borders Athletics event prior to the 3 Bridges, and will have to pay a late entry fee of £3.00.
Schools will be sent forms as normal and of course there are no entry fees for schools, there is also a team race that runners can register for on the day, the team race is a fun run. Watch out for posters coming to a location near you!Entry form will be available here:

Deerstalker Entry going for Saturday night 16 March
Hi - A while back I entered the 10k mighty deerstalker for this coming Saturday night at Traquair but have decided with the London Marathon coming up it may not be the safest run to do a month before. I am looking to offload the entry so if you fancy it please let me know! I would cost £45 to enter now although I paid £32 for my entry but am looking for £20 - you get a 'technical' tee shirt with the entry.
details here: http://notoriousnightruns.com/deerstalker.html
If interested please email me on colin.m.williams@talk21.com
Cheers Colin
PS I did the Run Northumberland half marathon today near Newcastle Airport in 1.23:19. I was 23rd out over 500 in rather chilly and blustery conditions.

John Buchan Way - Club Run Sunday 17-March
Update 10-March - good conditions on the JBW from run today - ground has dried out well despite recent snow showers; more snow flurries forecast for next weekend so full body cover inc hats and gloves strongly recommended
Our annual Club running of the John Buchan Way - Broughton to Peebles ~13 miles - on Sunday 17-March
Usual logistics, but a quick recap...
Meet at Gytes Leisure Centre Peebles at 0915 for prompt departure
Divy up into cars and head up to Broughton Place for start of run (plan to be running by 1000)
Run usually takes ~2 hrs (10 min mile pace inc stops) - we will try and run as a group, with regular regrouping at suitable landmarks.
Probably advise bringing a snack, it's a trail shoe footwear choice and full body cover - there will be stops, and particularly for faster runners, you will be running much below race pace, so don't get cold !
Kirsty will lay on some sandwiches and soup/tea/coffee back at 52 Edderston Road for the finish, so plan this into your morning 'pass-out'
All going to plan, back in Peebles ~1200, and soup/sarnies consumed by 1300
Please get in touch to let me know numbers and whether you can take your car if needed.
(Those taking cars, remember we need to sort out getting you back to Broughton to collect them again...)
Anyone who fancies doing a half-Buchan (starting at Stobo and running back over the JBW), let me know and we can organise something....
And if anyone just fancies the soup/sarnies, you are also very welcome - arrive at ~1200

Moorfoot at Meadows Marathon 2013
Race report from member Barry Hughes - an excellent 3:31 marathon time...
On Sunday I ran the second Meadows Marathon – an unusual but very well organised event around the Meadows in Edinburgh. The half marathon consists of 7 laps of the Meadows, and the full marathon (which I ran) 14 laps. It may seem a bit repetitive but the support was great and the runners well hydrated on the way round – the only dodgy bit being the cobbled section through George Square.
The event is organised by the Edinburgh University Students’ Association and attracted far more half marathon runners than full marathon entrants – I managed to finish 13th, which sounds great until you realise there were only about 40 runners in the full event! Still I beat my previous PB and came in at 3:31:14 so am not complaining at all!
Regards...
