Moorfoot Runners AGM and Annual Report 2019/20

Hello Moorfoot Runners Members

I hope everyone within the club and their families are staying safe and well.

As a result of the current lockdown, we recently held the club AGM over e-mail which we would like to share will all club members.  Please find various reports from this meeting saved at the link here

Finally, as I have stated in my section, many thanks to Alan MacDonald for his time as President of Moorfoot Runners – hope you have enjoyed it?  We will, in due course, have a ceremonial passing of the ‘Baton of Power’ from Alan to, eh, Alan (of the Elder variety), who has graciously been nominated, seconded and accepted the role of President for the next term. And also a special welcome to Alex and Vickie joining the committee for the first time.

Moorfoot Buffs now available

Dear Club Member,

It’s time to ditch your much loved, used and abused Tweedlove buffs !!!  

Moorfoot Runners now has a supply of branded buffs available for purchase – see professional model photo below – ideal for these times! These were ordered pre-lockdown but we realise that given the Scottish Government advice regarding recommending people cover their faces while in some enclosed public spaces it is potentially useful for club members to be able to get one if they don't already have a buff.

However due to current restrictions on getting out and about, we have devised a suitable process to pay for and pick up one or many of these highly sought after fashion items should you need one NOW

1.       If in the Peebles area, contact Pete Hall (Club Sec) on pehall@cisco.com to arrange a collection time

2.       If in the Innerleithen area, contact Colin Williams on colin.m.williams@talk21.com to arrange a collection time

3.       Both will let you know their addresses

4.       On your daily exercise on foot or on pedal, pop by, where the buffs will be by their front doors in a box/bucket – swap the buff(s) for the cash and wear with pride !

a.       Cost per buff is £5

b.       Cash on pickup – no change given, no cheques, no IOU’s and no credit given unless over 75 years old and accompanied by both sets of grandparents

IMPORTANT NOTE – Do not arrive by car as this is not an essential journey….even if you are out doing your weekly Big Shop

And remember – wear with pride…and stay safe out there …….

ScottishAthletics Virtual Road Relay Challenge 2020

Scottish Athletics also organised virtual road relays too over the Easter long weekend Friday to Monday - teams of 6 this time 3 x 10km, 3 x 5km. Run solo strictly in accordance with social distancing rules, and recorded on GPSs. You had to be a member of Scottish Athletics to enter and only about a quarter of Senior Moorfoots are SA members so made getting a team out more of a challenge. We succeeded in getting a team out, and it was great to include Scout locked down in the Lake District south of the border. The team of six was:
5kms - Beth Hobbs, Scout Adkin, Pete Hall,
10kms - Paul Nichol, Colin Williams, Andy Cox.

Scottish Athletics weren't very flexible which made it difficult for smaller clubs like ours and non-first claim club runners are excluded which ruled out Charlotte Clare and Dean Carr, even though they were keen. Also there was no mixed/open category so I've added up our own combined time below. Some cracking times and in particular from Beth Hobbs to finish 4th U20 and Paul Nichol 8th M55.
Also Charlotte Clare in a Lasswade vest clocked the fastest U20 time and a very speedy 6th female overall in the 5km. And well done to 'graduate' Sophie Collins making the female top 10 too.
All in all a good way to stay sharp in these times

Club membership renewals 2020/21

Club Membership Renewals are now due for 2020/21. 

(Year runs 1^st April 2020 to 31^st March 2021).

We have kept to the same system of  renewal as last year with Entry Central. The costs are also  the same as previous years (Entry Central costs are being absorbed by the club)
