Moorfoots at Norham BXC

Moorfoots took twenty runners from the club to Norham on Sunday past for Borders XC round 5.
First off were the juniors which attracted a field of 60 athletes. First home for Moorfoots was Jacob Adkin in 10th position overall. He was followed by Kobe Stevens in 15th position and Sophie Collins in 21st. Other Moorfoot positions were:
Megan Gray 27th, Ruaridh Britton 28th, Eilidh Smith 34th and Kazya Steven in 52nd position.

The senior race was a different course this year. The mud, deep burns and fences made it like an obstacle race over the 4.2 mile course. Course specialist Darin Dougal was first home for Moorfoots in 7th with Mike McGovern and Will Hynd followed in at 14th and 15th. The team will have to wait until the final race at Berwick to secure their third victory in a row for the series.
Other positions were:
Steve Martin 29th, Russell Anderson 34th, Aegier McIver 38th, Ian Munro 44th, Julia Connor 68th, Alexandra Campbell 82nd, Dave Wardman 107th, Alison Caw 113th, Jock Douglas 120th and Mike Pearson 136th.

Moorfoots at the Devil's Burdens Hill Race

Moorfoot runners James Britton and Russell Anderson made up a third of the "Arthur's Seat Massive" team at last Saturday's Devil's Burdens Race. The event is a 4 stage, 31km relay for teams of six (2 legs are run in pairs) and takes in the Fife summits of East Lomond, Bishop Hill and finally West Lomond. At the sharp end a full strength Shettleston team took the honours finishing 3 minutes ahead of 2nd placed Carnegie. The "Arthur's Seat Massive" took a slightly more relaxed approach but still finished a credible 23rd out of the 111 teams.
This is a cracking event and we should definitely consider having at least 1 Moorfoot team in 2010. Results, photos etc here:- http://www.shr.uk.com/NewsItems.aspx?NewsItemID=430

Moorfoot Runner Trail Race Series

Moorfoot Runner James Britton has kindly volunteered to organise a series of trail races for club members which will be run under 'handicap' based on recent race results (...dust down your recent slowest times and personal worsts 'PWs'...)
First Race is scheduled for Sunday 15-March (plenty of time to negotiate a whopper of a handicap...) at Cardrona Forest.
The race will start at 1000 am so make sure you are there nice and early on that Sunday.
Dates for subsequent races are TBC but second of the series possibly at Glentress in May.
Given James' prowess at the cross country and hill running, expect not a flat course.
"...mostly on major forest tracks but to keep things interesting there are a few sections of single track and a sharp climb up to the fort towards the end of the route.."
More details to follow...
As suggested by James, we will try and plan a future Sunday run at Cardrona to do some route familiarisation...watch the blog for the February and March training dates and venues...

Moorfoots at Dunbar BXC

The blustery conditions made it a tough course at Dunbar. Over 150 athletes took part and Moorfoots were well represented by 11 members. First home as normal was James Britton in 6th position, with Darin (11th) and Mike McGovern (14th)
This almost ensured that Moorfoots would pick up the overall team prize for the series for the 3rd year in a row.
Everybody had a good run although Aegier looked a bit under the weather from the night before…
Pic - Captain D shows a set of clean heels to the opposition in his new shoes from Santa
Late update - Jock Douglas takes 1st position in M65 category...

Welcome to the Moorfoot Runners Members' Blog Site

Welcome to the Moorfoot Runners Members' Blog Site !

This site is intended to be an easy to use communication tool to keep the club members up to date with what is happening in the club and what your runner club members are up to....

It does not replace the club email distribution list or the offical Moorfootrunners.co.uk website, nor is it really intended as our external communcation to non club members (although there is no problem with them reading the information on this site...)Publishing to the site is very easy - anyone interested in having access should let me know...short term I would suggest that you email me with your inputs and I'll publish them...

We want to keep 'rules' to a minimum - normal common sense should prevail in terms of what is 'appropriate' and what might cause offensive.

To be a successful communication medium and information point we need to keep the content and updates fresh and relevant, so I would encourage all members to provide input to me by email on races they have participated in - include pictures if you can....

Start blogging....
