Borders XC Series - Moorfoot Team take 2008/09 Team Prize...

Moorfoot Runners took the Team prize for the third year running in the Borders XC series, following the final 2008/09 leg at Berwick.

With four from six team scores to count for the series, it looked unofficially like the team prize was staying at Moorfoot HQ again before the final race. But with some of the regular team runners unavailable for the final weekend due to participating at yesterdays Carnethy5 or otherwise engaged, it was down to the 'super subs' to fly the flag.

Conditions were benign - the tide being far enough out not to affect the route over the beach, but the wind did play it part as did the rather soft conditions up on the cliff top at the far end of the course.

First home was Steve Martin followed closely behind by Russell Anderson (obviously having left something in the tank from the Carnethy5 the day before) and (not so closely) by Kenny Davidson.

Ian Munro, Julia Conner and Alex Campbell were next home, with Dave Wardman making a return to the cross country after some back problems and the ever youthful Jock Douglas fighting it out in the age categories. Mike Pearson brought the team home for another successful Borders XC series.

Other Series successes for the Moorfoots were:

F 35 4th position Julia Conner

F Junior 2nd position Alex Campbell

MV65 2nd position Jock Douglas (same points as winner, but runner up on a count back)

Well done to all those who have participated in all of the six rounds.
