Feel the Burns 2017

The 4th edition of Feel the Burns was the muddiest and wettiest by far with the massive overnight thaw turning the course into a mud/slushfest - so comparatively slow times although somehow the course record was beaten by Mark Sutherland of Glasgow Uni/Lauderdale Limpers. This is how the Carnethy report described it:
"The 4 foot deep snow of 2 days ago melted away to leave equally remarkable morasses of mud and paths turned to rivers. Cold ones. The normally fast field descents turned into the grassy equivalent of ice. There were many… no other way of saying it… skidmarks. The actual river wade scarcely wetter than the surroundings."

The race was also doubling as the Moorfoot Winter Championships won by Jacob Adkin.
Results not out at time of writing but Jacob Adkin had a stormer to finish 3rd as first Moorfoot, the day after a strong run at the East XC League race at Broxburn. Next Moorfoot home was Darin Dougal, then Colin Williams, Mike McGovern (who had run together for about 2/3rds), Pete Hall, Alan Elder, Scott McDonald.

Darin, Mike and Colin may have been a long way off the pointy end of the race but we filled the podium when it came to getting to the haggis and tattie pies opting for the pies before showers!

Jacob Adkin running the number on the vest says No.1 - 1st Moorfoot home by a country mile.
