Senior training under the latest COVID guidance 11 March onwards

This post covers the Moorfoot senior training arrangments in order to accommodate the additional COVID measures, as of 11 March 2021, until further guidance is issued. Also a summary of the ScottishAthletics guidance at the bottom. 

We will be keeping a note of everyone who attends training on both nights in case we need to look back at it in a 'track and trace' situation.
 
The guidance specifies that there should be a maximum of 15 adults within a training bubble, and on Tuesday attendance is typically around this number, so the following arrangements will be in place on Tuesdays only: 
  • Two training groups will be used, one led by Colin Williams, and the other led Dean Carr or Gillian Carr.
  • The group led by Colin will gather near the entrance to Kingsmeadows carpark,
  • The group led by Dean or Gillian will gather on the far side of the carpark towards the river and the pirate ship play park.
  • On arrival you must decide which group to approach and stay with that group for the entirety of the training session, and not mix after. Please think about this before you arrive to ensure no mixing.
  • Both groups will be undertaking the same training session but at different locations , and both groups will cater for all abilities.

If on the night once everyone has arrived it is the case that in total there are 15 or less attendees then both groups may join together and be run as a single group, but this will decided on the evening on a case by case basis.

Of course if you are not comfortable with attending training then that's absolutely fine and don't feel any pressure to attend and of course you could always do the interval session or trail run in your own time!

We have now updated our Covid Framework and Covid Guidance for athletics and running.

Following the link above and check the documents dated 11/03/21 for further detail.

We’re pleased to say these moves bring about a return to group training from Friday – up to 30 athletes and coaches at U12 age group; 12-17 year-olds – groups of 15; and adults – groups of 15.

The Level 4 refers to all areas of Scotland currently with exception of a number of island communities who are now Level 3 (except Skye which is Level 4).

The key changes are summarised below:

From Friday 12 March:

Age 12+ (Level 4)

  • Those aged 12+ and over can take part in organised athletics training, group exercise and competition within their usual club or facility environment.
  • Group sizes of up to 15 people, including coaches and officials, are permitted at any one time.
  • Physical distancing should be maintained at all times.
  • Where there are multiple bubbles operating at the same venue risk assessments must be completed to ensure there can be no mixing of participants before, during or after the activity.

Travel

  • Adults (18+) should only travel locally (within their local authority area) to take part in organised sport or physical activity.

Physical distancing & good hygiene behaviours

Follow Scottish Government advice on physical distancing at all times when not taking part in the activity.

• Do not share food, towels, and drinks.

• Clean your hands and equipment frequently.

Participants must practice good respiratory hygiene during the activity (i.e. coughing, sneezing into a tissue or the crook of an elbow).

• Avoid spitting.

• Avoid touching your face.
