Christmas Pudding Race (By Peter Caddick)

On Sunday 18th December seven Moorfoots headed down through the snow to Melrose. The previous day some had also run in the club handicap with thank you's to Colin and Hamish.

It had been a big week and a few were disappointed to miss out with COVID, coughs and the run up to Christmas. Prep was questionable following a highly enjoyable club Christmas dinner (Thank you Colin, Dean and Gillian) and a thirsty Thursday with Kerry’s mince pies. (Next year may see a club Great British Bake Off and Martin  has already started a showstopper designed as an ultra trail run in order to bag points early).

Elves, Santa's and Christmas hats took part at Melrose as Carol lead the way with Sam, Martin and Ian not far behind. Dorien kindly waited for Pete C who again maintained he would have got her in a sprint off! Tim also finished two races in two days.

Post-race everyone headed to Melrose rugby club for top notch refreshments of soup and home made baking.

Stop-press there was also a protest against Martin’s fancy dress ringing bells disturbing other runners and clearly being a calculated use to his advantage!

A thank you to the Wobbly bridge team who superbly organised the event with many encouraging marshal's really in the spirit of Christmas.

Fully refueled the Moorfoots hit the road back home after a delightful day out.
