Pete, Dorien and myself packed into my little Nissan Micra to take on the elements for the trip to Spittal for the 3rd round of the Borders XC series. After a very exciting wintery drive up to Penicuik the snow disappeared and we could relax on our onward journey round the A1 to Spittal beach (a long way !!!).
Arriving there we were greeted by Ian and Carol and a balmy 5oC coastal climate. I personally found this one a little tough going. The sand was very soft and wet and very heavy going unlike Dunbar a fortnight before. After the beach has an out and back along the headland, it was pretty icy up there so found it hard to get into any kind of flow.
Back down on the beach and we were into the wind and the finish line never seemed to get any closer.
After the ordeal there was only one thing for it a trip to the famous Cedar Cafe for Sunday Lunch !!!!!
