Marathon A Month Challenge - Update

I have been a bit remiss in posting monthly updates on my marathon-a-month challenge this year so here goes a brief summary of the last 4!

April - Blackpool marathon in beautiful weather.  26 miles up and down the front, perfectly flat but with a strong breeze.  Came in at 3:44, a little slower than I would have liked given the conditions but perfectly acceptable.  Also cheered on by some Peebles folk on holiday there, Colin and Katie Noble, who just happened to be passing!
May - the Luxembourg Marathon, an evening marathon through the old city, with lots of twists and turns and climbs. Fantastic atmosphere - and surely the only marathon in the world with a prize for the fastest ordained minister (which I managed to win!)
June - the following weekend, Gibside Marathon just outside Newcastle.  An unexpected 4,000 feet of climb over the 26.2 miles meant this was more of an endurance event.  Time incredibly slow but actually not too bad in the end (21st out of 60 runners)

July - last weekend, the Potteries Marathon.  This race has been revived after an 11 year absence and was well worth it.  Another hilly one, though all on-road and with a great start and end point (the Britannia Stadium).

For August I am going to run an unofficial marathon around the Peebles area - it would be great if Moorfoots and others could join in, watch this space for more information!
