On the 6th June Vickie Morrison completed the Coniston Trail Marathon described as:
Starting and finishing at Coniston Hall Landing Point on the shores of Coniston Water, the Lakeland Trails Marathon takes in a complete circuit of Coniston Water along fully marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways. Taking in the idyllic beauty spot of Tarn Hows and the elevated Beacon Tarn, the whole course gives panoramic views of Lake Coniston and the surrounding peaks of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags. Described by Runners' World magazine as 'the most scenic trail Marathon in Britain' this event is quickly becoming a classic European trail marathon.
Vickie had a great run to come 7th in her F40
category in a time of 4:48 on a course that includes over 1000m of
climb, very well done. She commented:
Knackered after my first trail marathon....it was hard in the heat...gorgeous route with my running buddy Magda Janus .and to finish it off my beautiful daughter gave me her hand for last 150 metres to spur me on...
